Message from the President

Dear Past, Current, and Future Viking Families,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the President of St. Bernard High School (SBHS). I am honored to have been appointed by the Senior Director and Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools, and excited to be joining the SBHS community. SBHS has a long tradition of providing an educational experience that combines rigorous academics, successful athletics, a rich and varied student life - all centered in our Catholic Faith and grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ. I look forward to partnering with each of you to ensure that we honor this legacy - while building an exciting future that prepares our graduates for college, career, and life.

St. Bernard of Clairvaux framed the moral mandate for his namesake high school in a prophetically accurate way several hundred years ago:

"There are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge; that is Curiosity.

There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; that is Vanity.

There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is Love."

Our goal at SBHS is to instill a love of learning in our students not merely for the utility of how knowledge can benefit them as individuals, but to inspire them to use their knowledge in the service of others.

To our existing families, thank you for choosing St. Bernard High School and entrusting us with the safety and education of your sons and daughters. This is a profound responsibility that we take very seriously and will strive every day to deliver on our commitment to excellence in spiritual formation, academics, and developmental accompaniment.

To those families who are learning about St. Bernard High School, I encourage you to set up a time to visit, take a tour, and see first-hand what we are about as a school community.

In The Spirit of St. Bernard,

Casey Yeazel

President
